Meet Eric: Mr. Kinkster 2K18

If you asked Mr. Kinkster 2K18 to use a word or two to describe himself he would say “incredibly tenacious.” As we launch photos from our recent shoot with Mr. Kinkster 2K18 we also took the opportunity to chat further with this incredibly tenacious and charming man.

It’s clear Corey Wesley got it right when he selected Eric to be Mr. Kinkster 2K18. He has handsome looks, a rockin’ body, and a personality rivaling anyone who calls themselves a kinkster. As we planned for the photoshoot Eric stood ready to bring his leather harnesses, jocks, and handcuffs. As we got to meet him in our interview, we learned there is much more to him than his good looks.

Meet Mr. Kinkster 2K18, Eric Alan

Eric grew up as a Jehovah Witness and as a youngster always felt different. Later in his adolescent years, he came to the realization he was gay. He shared that the most unconventional thing he’s done would be to break from the religion, which was a challenge, to be on his own journey of discovery. On his journey, he has explored his creative side by expressing himself through music and has songs and videos on iTunes. Music was always in his house as he comes from a family of music lovers.

Eric also fondly remembers an aunt with whom he would sneak into the laundry room and listen to music when everyone else was asleep. Mr. Kinkster grew up in the Madonna, Prince, George Michael era and always identified with the music, videos, and dancing. Although it took some soul searching to get there he has created music and he is very proud that he did.

But it wasn’t easy. When he initially ventured into the music industry his label asked him to tone down his gayness. He did break free from that repression as he decided he would not allow anyone to tell him what to do or how to act. He took control of his music and himself and didn’t care what other people thought. The song and video he is most proud of is his last one, “My Favorite Sin.” Eric says, “ a lot of sweat and tears went into it. The video is kind of a package deal with the lyrics, dancing, music. All of that together was me shedding something I knew I loved but was a struggle.” As he looks forward to his musical talents, he is focusing his energy on finding circuit DJs with whom he can partner.

He came to New York City at the age of 36 and was working on oil rigs if you can believe it. Today he holds a 9-5 job and is a go-go dancer. Now if that isn’t the tell-tale sign of a kinkster, I don’t know what is. How does he do it all you ask? Well, Mr. Kinkster 2K18 says it has to do with support, limits, and balance. He gets support from his friends and especially his boyfriend who he says is supportive in everything that he does. He says his 9-5 job is very liberal.

Although he’s not wearing the company logo on his shirt every day, he says there would likely be no big deal if they learned about his dancing. Eric says it’s also important to know your limits, what you can and can’t do. If you have to be at work at 9:00 am the next day, you can’t be out until 4:00 am every night. Eric says, “It’s okay to learn to say no and it’s okay to say no.”

We also took some time to ask some quick fire questions:

1. Boxers, briefs, or command?

Depends on the situation, doesn’t it? Every day, it’s commando.

2. Cologne or no cologne?

No cologne.

3. What are the top three songs on your work out playlist?

  • Carry On by Nacho Chapado
  • Body Talk by Escorts
  • Love Me Forever by the Juveniles

4. Where were you born?

North Hollywood.

5. Do you prefer a fun boisterous night out or a quiet night at home?

Fun boisterous night out! Let’s go and enjoy the city!

6. Dead or alive who would you want to be friends with?

Just saw a documentary so it’s on my mind. I think I’d have a lot to talk about with George Michael. I think he suffered a lot. You can feel it in his voice.

7. Who’s your favorite superhero?

Sheera.

8. Baskin Robbins ice cream comes in 31 flavors. What would be yours?

Firey latino madness. Full of everything, crunch, salt and sweet, and a beat for your senses. Gooey and hard in all the right places.

9. Would you rather be a hero or villain in a superhero movie and what would be your name?

Absolutely the villain. Isn’t it already Eric? If I had another name for this it would be Rico, sexy and daring.

As Mr. Kinkster 2K18, Eric will be a brand ambassador for Kinkster NYC. He was in a professional photo shoot with NYC-based photographer Eva Mueller on location at Rebar Chelsea. He also received select merchandise and will be the face of Kinkster NYC for the brand. In addition, Kinkster MAG DJ on the Rise 2K18, Bio Zounds, created an exclusive mix, just for our new Mr. Kinkster.
